安曇野市豊科近代美術館

The museum opened in 1992 in Toyoshina district of Azumino city (安曇野市豊科). It is located in an interesting Western style building next to a beautiful flower garden where many rose bushes bloom in summer.



The permanent collection consists of:

  • approximately 200 sculptures by the master of Japanese modern sculpture Hiroatsu Takada (高田 博厚) ,
  • over 2000 paintings by Yoshihei Miya 宮芳平, who was known for his friendship with a writer Mori Ogai (森鷗外),
  • Western style drawings by Kuniji Kobayashi (小林邦二) who was born in the Nagano prefecture
  • paintings by Mitsumasa Okumura (奥村光正), a locally born artist who spent most of his life in France.
 



In the museum building there is also a small souvenir shop and a cafe. Please note that these place are closed during the winter season - from beginning of December until mid-March.
